Your turn to write and talk

Some words are onomatopoeic. This means they sound like the thing they’re describing, e.g. beep, clang. Onomatopoeic words are often used in cartoons.

Work in pairs.

  1. Martin used two onomatopoeic words. What were they?
  2. What was he referring to?
  3. Make a list each of five onomatopoeic words.
  4. Compare your lists. Explain what the words could refer to.
