Six friends are talking about preparations for their High School prom. How do friends talk together in a group?

Andrew:Are you guys ready for prom?
Alex:Yeah.
Sidney:I am. Considering it’s tomorrow, I think we have to be ready [laughter].
Andrew:What … have you got, you’ve got your dress already, right?
Sidney:I’ve ordered my dress online. Usually I don’t because it’s kind of scary, but this year it actually went very well. And my date goes here, and he asked me in a really cute way so …
Andrew:Who’s your date again?
Alex:Ah!
Sidney:Francis.
Andrew:Oh, that’s right. How did he ask you?
Sidney:Uhm … one of the river walks down here – Mines of Spain, that you guys know of – he put in on like one of the castles … uhm, “Prom”, and like he spelled out “Prom” in balloons and h-, held a poster that said uh, “Going to prom with you would make the night pop!” so – that’s really cute.
Jacquelyn:Aw … that’s cute.
Andrew:That was cute.
Emily:Have you gotten your dress yet?
Emma:Yeah, I got mine at uhm … a bridal shop downtown.
Sidney:Awesome.
Emily:It’s really …
Emma:Did you get your tux?
Andrew:Yeah, Kir-, Kirk and I went shopping …
Alex:Yeah, we did.
Andrew:… for our tuxedos like a couple of days ago. So that was fun. We look pretty sharp.
Alex:We tried ‘em on.
Emily:How did you guys pick your tuxes? What do you base it off of?
Andrew:Uh, I mean we basically have no choice in what colour we’re wearing. We have to base it off of what you ladies are … what colour you’re wearing, or what our date is wearing, I should say. So like Michaela, my date uh, she’s wearing uh, like a purple and silvery kind of dress so uh, my tuxedo is like a gray jacket with a purple vest and tie.
Emily:That’s fun.
Andrew:So it looks nice. It looks really good.
Sidney:Very dapper. [laughter]
Andrew:Yeah.
Alex:My date she’s wearing a sequins dress, all black, s-, kind of silver like. So … there wasn’t much colour to deal with it so we went with her red heels, so tied some red into it.
Andrew:Nice. Do we know where we’re going to eat yet?
Sidney:Kirk said Timmerman’s, right?
Alex:Yeah.
Andrew:Timmerman’s.
Emily:Which is like a –
Andrew:That will be nice.
Emily:– fancy …
Emma:– supper club.
Emily:– restaurant, yeah.
Jacquelyn:Supper club.
Andrew:Yeah, it’s definitely fancy. And then, are we taking pictures before or afterwards?
Emma:Before.
Jacquelyn:Before.
Andrew:Before. Where?
Emma:There’s uh, a place downtown. It’s called the Warehouse District. There’s a whole bunch of buildings down there. I think we’re gonna go down there.
Andrew:Cool. Our pictures will look good. Nice down there.
Jacquelyn:Yeah.
Andrew:It’ll be nice.
Emma:I’m excited to see everyone very dressed up.
Andrew:Yeah.
Jacquelyn and Emma:Me too.
Alex:Equally.
Sidney:It’s different from school. You just see ‘em in jeans –
Andrew:Yeah.
Sidney:– or even sweatshirts and sweatpants, so to see people in gowns and tuxes, it’s just like “Wow, you’ve changed!”
Emma:It’s exciting.
Andrew:Yeah.
Emma:It’s fun for the girls to get your hair done and your make-up done. It’s a really big deal and … uhm … most girls get their nails done too, so –
Emily:Guys have it easy.
Jacquelyn and Emma:Yeah …
Sidney:Yeah, they do.
Andrew:Yeah, they really do. It takes like 30 minutes to … for us to get ready whereas a girl will take …
Emma:Probably –
All:Hours!
Andrew:Hours … to get all of their hair and make-up and …
Emily:Nails.
Sidney and Andrew:Nails.
Emma:Yeah, I …
Sidney:To get into your dress!
Emma:Yeah.
Jacquelyn:Yeah.
Andrew:Getting into the dress.
Emma:Don’t you have a nail appointment tonight?
Sidney:I do. I have a nail appointment tonight around like 4 o’clock. So I usually schedule that ahead of time because if you go usually the day of the dance, there’s so many people so it’s just hard to get in. So usually scheduling is pretty tight, but you just go, show ‘em what you want, what colour matches you dress and then – they do it.
Andrew:They just take care of it.
Sidney:Yeah.
Emily:The dance is a 9 o’clock, right?
Andrew:Yeah.
Sidney:Yup.
Andrew:Yup. I don’t know if I’m going to be able to stay up long enough, like it goes till midnight. I’ll probably be sleeping by then.
Jacquelyn:That’s so early!
Andrew:I know.
Alex:It starts late, too.
Andrew:Yeah!
Sidney:Yeah, it does.
Jacquelyn:Yeah.
Emma:Did you buy your tickets yet?
Andrew:Yeah. Yeah, I just got mine … yesterday, I think.
Emma:And they’re 15 dollars?
Andrew:Yeah, fif-, thirty for two of us, yeah. So …
Emma:And is anyone excited for any certain songs maybe?
Emma:Ooh …
Alex:No.
Andrew:Um … Not like a specific song, but I just hope the DJ’s, the music player, is good.
